The Maritime Police Bureau of Jiangsu dispatched multiple ships to conduct 24-hour uninterrupted patrols in the sea during the Labor Day holiday so as to prevent the destruction of submarine optical cables, and crack down on smuggling and other illegal activities.
As an important means of communication in the world, submarine optical cable has become the main carrier of information exchange between China and the rest of the world.
Submarine optical cables have been damaged many times in recent years because of the increasing frequency of marine economic and social activities and frequent offshore operations, making it necessary to enhance the management and protection over the submarine cable.
The Maritime Police of Jiangsu arranged for round-the-clock patrol over the seas during the Labor Day holiday and investigated all the passing vessels so as to crack down on illegal activities such as smuggling, illegal sand mining, and destruction of the marine ecological environment.
