East China’s Jiangsu province reported steady transportation during the Labor Day holiday as an increasingly large number of people visited tourist attractions and returned to their hometowns.
No large-scale traffic congestion was reported in Jiangsu during the Labor Day holiday that lasted from May 1st to 5th.
There was a hike in the flow of highway traffic during the holiday as China's Ministry of Transport announced to restore all tolls across the country from May 6. The move is valid for all toll roads nationwide, including bridges and tunnels, the ministry said in a notice, adding that given vehicles approved by law will continue to be exempted from tolls.
The railway traffic was also heavier during the 5-day holiday than that in the past three months with most trips heading for various destinations in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The Nanjing Railway Station sent off 755 thousand passengers during the holiday.
