East China’s Jiangsu province is getting ready for the 5th International Daoism Forum that is scheduled to take place in May, according to a preparatory meeting held on Tuesday.

Chen Xingying, Vice Governor and Deputy Director of the Provincial Organizing Committee, also delivered a speech.

Yang Yue emphasized that it is important to regard the hosting of the forum as a political task, make every possible effort to ensure that it meets the quality and standards, coordinate the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic and the preparation for the forum, adding that efforts will be made to make the Fifth International Taoism Forum an international event with the most distinctive and highest level.

Chen Xingying made specific arrangements on the preparation for the forum.

The 5th International Taoism Forum will be held in early May in Maoshan Hill, an acclaimed Taoist shrine in Jurong County, east China's Jiangsu Province.

Jointly hosted by the Chinese Daoist Association and the China Religious Culture Communication Association, this year's forum will focus on how Daoism can keep up with the times and contribute to social progress.

By introducing the development of Daoism in China and facilitating communication on the subject, the forum is expected to better explain religious affairs in China to the world, according to the organizer.

Daoism is a 2,000-year-old religion that originated from Lao Tze's philosophy.

Previous forums were held in 2007, 2011, 2014 and 2017 in different locations.
