East China’s Jiangsu province will accelerate the integration of industrial innovation and infrastructure in six areas, and accelerate the construction of a modern economic system, according to its outline on the integrated regional development of the Yangtze River Delta.
The "outline" clearly stipulates the launch of the Yangtze River Delta on the track, pinpointing the role of transportation infrastructure as a top priority in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
Measures to be taken include continuously improving the accessibility of regional highways, working together to build a world-class airport cluster, accelerating the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system with a reasonable structure, perfect functions, and interoperability, and better adapts to the needs of the construction of a world-class metropolis cluster in the Yangtze River Delta.
Jiangsu will focus on accelerating the construction of an independent and controllable advanced manufacturing system. By 2025, it will have built an advanced manufacturing base with international competitiveness, boost the advanced industrial foundation, modernize the industrial chain, and build a world-class industrial cluster.
Efforts will be made to highlight the leading role of Nanjing and Sothern Jiangsu National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zones, strengthen close collaboration with the financial centers and science and technology innovation centers in Shanghai and make advanced layout of the national key laboratory and industrial innovation center.
With the support of platforms such as the Shanghai-Nanjing Industrial Innovation Belt and the G60 Science and Technology Corridor, the province will also build a technological innovation community in the Yangtze River Delta.
In December last year, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council issued an outline of the integrated regional development of the Yangtze River Delta.
The document outlined targets, requirements and measures to boost the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and build a regional cluster of high-quality development.
As one of China's most economically active, open and innovative regions, the Yangtze River Delta boasts strategic significance in the country's modernization and further opening-up, which makes its regional integration crucial for leading the country's high-quality development and building a modern economic system.
