East China’s Jiangsu province has released a plan on promoting the revitalization of rural industries and the integration and development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries in the rural areas. In a bid to further ensure the effective supply of important agricultural products, supplement the short boards of rural industry development, and accelerate the construction of a rural industrial system with Jiangsu characteristics.
The six major fields for building a distinctive rural industrial system will feature stable production and supply, green and efficient, large-scale agglomeration, innovation-driven, integrated development and value enhancement.
Efforts will be made to ensure 37 million mu of functional area for grain production and 5 million mu of important agricultural product protection area.
The province will also take targeted measures to ensure that the grain sown area is stable at about 80 million mu and the total grain output is stable at more than 70 billion kilograms.
Jiangsu will also vigorously promote the comprehensive cultivation of high-quality and good-taste rice and ecological and healthy breeding of aquatic products and livestock and poultry, and establish a green and efficient production model that integrates agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing cycles, integration of cultivation and breeding, and green and efficient production mode with integrated production and living ecology.
Each county-level city or urban district are encouraged to prioritize the development of specialty vegetables, seasonal fresh fruits, and brand teas, build a number of "one village, one product" demonstration villages at the national level and promote the development of distinctive competitive industrial clusters.
At the same time, Jiangsu will also build a national agricultural product processing R & D sub-center, promote the development of large-scale agricultural product processing enterprises, further optimize the distribution of agricultural products, and promote new industries and new business forms such as "agriculture + leisure tourism", "agriculture + Internet", "agriculture + service industry", "agriculture + health" so as to enhance the vitality of rural industry development.
Through a series of solid measures, Jiangsu will strive to build 8 industries by 2022 with output value of 100 billion yuan that will include high-quality rice and wheat, green vegetables, and aquatic products.
It will also launch about 200 county-level characteristic industrial clusters that register added value of above 1 billion yuan.
The added value of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries in the rural areas will expect significant GDP growth at the county level.
