Culture, tourism authorities issue measures to support enterprises amid epidemic

East China’s Jiangsu province has rolled out 12 measures in three categories help culture and tourism enterprises to offset the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic on the economy, according to a circular released by the provincial department of culture and tourism.

Efforts will be made to promote the upgrade of cultural industry parks and the further development of the national and provincial cultural parks, according the circular.

Jiangsu will take the construction of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park as the lead to create tourism brand products, the circular said.

It will also support cultural heritage sites and museums to develop intangible cultural heritage theme tourism, according to the circular.

Efforts will be made to develop smart tourism and strengthen the application of new technologies such as big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things in the field of culture and tourism by focusing on new hotspots and trends in consumption, and lay out and expand new cultural and tourism formats, said the circular. 

Tourist attractions and scenic areas will be required to lower the admission fees and launch discount sales during slack season and working days so as to stimulate consumption, the circular said. 

In the meantime, Jiangsu will bring into full play the culture and tourism fund to promote the cultural and tourism consumption upgrades.

By the end of 2022, the province will have built 10 demonstration areas for integrated development of cultural industry and tourism industry at the provincial level and 3 at the national level.
