Ren Zhenhe urges efforts to reduce epidemic’s impact on agriculture

Ren Zhenhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, urged more efforts to reduce the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic on agriculture. He made the remarks on Wednesday when going on an inspection tour to Nantong city.

Ren visited an aquatic company and a fishery port in Nantong where he asked the local government officials to take differentiated measures to coordinate epidemic control and resumption of work. 

He called for accelerating the development of industries such as offshore fishing and deep processing of seafood, strengthening the management of safe production of fisheries, and ensuring the safety of fishermen's offshore operations.

When inspecting a farming cooperative in Haimen County, an agricultural park in Nantong and a horticulture park in Rugao County Ren demanded more efforts in the promotion of high-standard farmland, the establishment of new types of farms, the development of high efficiency agriculture by giving full play to the government’s advantages in market and capital. 

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also visited a demonstration base for returned migrant workers to launch business startups, encouraging more farmers to return to their hometowns for business endeavors. 

Ren Zhenhe stressed the importance of making up for the lost time and stabilizing agricultural production for sustained growth of the work related to agriculture, rural affairs and farmers.
