East China’s Jiangsu province has been making every possible effort to ensure the smooth progress of spring farming amid the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus epidemic.
A village in Binhai County has resorted to unmanned aerial vehicles to help with farming. In a matter of 20 minutes, the UAV can spray herbicides on more than 30 acres in just 20 minutes
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the agricultural and rural affairs system in Jiangsu have made full use of the agricultural platforms such as “Agricultural Technology” and “Cuckoo Planting Alliance” to continuously release information on epidemic prevention and control and agricultural policies on technologies and markets.
For a single platform of "Agricultural Technology", a total of 206 pieces of technical guidance information were sent, with 2.01 million visits and over 20,000 user interactions.
In order to ensure the orderly supply of agricultural materials such as fertilizers and pesticides, the province's supply and marketing system has also established a coordination group for the guarantee of the supply of spring farming materials by increasing the purchase channels, applying for green passes and ensuring the timely delivery of agricultural materials.
The latest information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows that the province's wheat seedlings are growing well. 4.65 million mu of vegetables will expect a slight increase from the previous years with improving overall production.
