The Provincial Market Regulatory Administration announced on Saturday that it will launch a province-wide inspection to check and rein in the prices of facial masks amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The inspection will target all the medical mask production enterprises, major raw and auxiliary material enterprises for medical mask production and manufacturers of mask-making equipment.
The inspection team will deal with overcharging of masks and the raw and auxiliary materials for mask making and price gouging.
Authorities have vowed to crack down on price violations in the making of masks and other price gouging activities so as to ensure the supply of prevention and control materials.
During investigation into three price gouging cases, despite warnings from the market regulator, some pharmacies continued to hike mask prices and resorted to illegal practices such as forging the sales record so as to dodge the supervision.
Market regulators at all levels in the province have stepped up the supervision on prices of epidemic control materials since the outbreak of the epidemic.
