Top officials and high-ranking officers joined in a symposium Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.
Among the top leaders and high ranking officers were He Weidong, and He Ping, commander-in-chief and political commissar of the Eastern Theater Command, Lou Qinjian, chief of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu.
On behalf of the CPC Provincial Committee, the standing committee of the provincial people’s congress, the provincial committee of the CPPCC and the people of Jiangsu, Lou extended his festive greetings to the military servicemen and servicewomen, armed police officers and soldiers and reserve officers and soldiers, ex-servicemen and servicewomen in Jiangsu.
Lou spoke highly of the contributions made by the military to the social and economic development in Jiangsu on many important occasions.
He said that in the past year, the Eastern Theater and the troops stationed in Jiangsu adhered to the leadership of the Xi Jinping thought on strengthening the armed forces, focused on its core mission, came to grips with training and war readiness and accelerated reform and transformation so that new remarkable achievements have been made in all aspects of army building, fully showcasing the new features of the people's armed forces in the new era.
The CPC Provincial chief noted that in the face of arduous reform and development tasks, the military-civilian solidarity and unity is a solid foundation for us to make god performances in various tasks and the care and support of the troops stationed in Jiangsu is an important driving force for the development of various undertakings in the province.
Lou also remarked that Jiangsu will coordinate economic construction and national defense construction to a higher standard, serve military preparedness more vigorously, promote military-civilian integration to expand into wider areas and deeper levels and seek good performances in the management and service of demobilized soldiers and further advance military-civilian mutual support so that the people of Jiangsu will serve as the strong backup for the military in the province.
He hoped that the leaders of the eastern theater and the troops stationed in Jiangsu will, as always, care about and support the development of Jiangsu, and the military-civilian cooperation will join forces to write a new chapter in the construction of Jiangsu and the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and strengthening the armed forces the army as soon as possible.
Wu Zhenglong said great achievements were made in the past year by adhering to the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, implementing the important directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the work of Jiangsu, practicing the concept of new development, implementing the guidelines and decision-making arrangements of the central government and making overall plans for all aspects of development and reform for good momentum of social stability and economic development in the province.
The governor also extended his gratitude to the Jiangsu-based troops for their support and contribution to the province’s social and economic development.
