Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, paid a holiday visit to two academicians and a traditional Chinese medicine master on Monday.
Wu visited Ren Hongqiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dean of the School of Environment Science, Nanjing University, Zhou Zhongying, Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chief TCM Physician of Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wang Jianguo, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Urban Design Institute of Southeast University.
In the School of Environment Science, Nanjing University, Wu Zhenglong conducted in-depth exchanges with Academician Ren Hongqiang on industrial wastewater treatment and the Yangtze River protection, and watched the demonstration of the full-spectrum diagnostic and analysis platform for big data ecological and environmental pollutants.
Wu Zhenglong said Jiangsu is accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading and promoting its high-quality development, making it all the more important to resolutely win the fight against pollution and cultivate green industries into a new force for high-quality development.
Zhou Zhongying, a 92-year-old Chinese medicine master, has long been engaged in clinical, teaching, and scientific research in traditional Chinese medicine. He is a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage projects.
Wu Zhenglong thanked him for his contribution to the development of Chinese medicine and wished him good health and good luck.
Zhou said that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the work of Chinese medicine, which signals that the revitalization of Chinese medicine has entered an unprecedented good era.
Zhou also put forward valuable suggestions on talent training, scientific research, and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.
The Governor said that Chinese medicine is a precious wealth left to us by his ancestors. He hoped that Zhou would continue to be a good leader and inheritor, to inherit and develop traditional Chinese medicine, and to contribute more wisdom to the construction of the healthy Jiangsu campaign.
Wu Zhenglong also visited Wang Jianguo, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Urban Design Institute of Southeast University.
Wu pointed out that talent is the primary resource and innovation is the primary driving force. Government departments at all levels in the province must care for the science and technology workers politically, support their work, and care about their life so as to ensure the province’s high-quality development is at the forefront of the country and gather powerful forces for the construction of a new Jiangsu.
