The third general meeting of the Suzhou New District Collectors' Association was held in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 24, according to local media reports.
The general meeting included the authentication of privation collections for local collectors as well as a collection trade.
Yang Zhenhua, member of the National Committee for Cultural Relics Authentication and Preservation, and other experts were invited to identify the collections and give lectures on the collection of cultural relics.
Twelve palm-sized porcelain bowls and bottles from a local resident were identified as being from the Song (960-1279), Yuan (1271-1368) and Qing dynasties (1644-1911).
Yang said that, although their market value is not high, they are genuine articles.
A Jun kiln-made bowl from the Song Dynasty and a yellow-glazed green dragon plate from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) were the highlights of the event.
Yang was impressed by the quality of private collections in SND and said she looks forward to similar activities in the future.
Lin Jinrong, executive chairman of the Suzhou New District Collectors' Association, expressed hope that activities such as this will encourage collectors in the district and help familiarize local residents with cultural relics.
In addition to the collection appraisal, a total of 17 collections were traded during the event.
