East China’s Jiangsu province held a seminar Wednesday in Nanjing to study the remarks made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the flag-conferring ceremony of the national comprehensive firefighting and rescue force held in November last year at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, spoke highly of the important role played by the firefighting and rescue force in Jiangsu in his written instruction delivered to the seminar.
The firefighting and rescue team has played an important role in ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and maintaining the stability of development, he said.
He hoped that the firefighting and rescue team in the province would study the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, keep in mind the remarks made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the flag-conferring ceremony, stay true to the Party’s founding mission, fulfill the duties and missions so as to improve the emergency rescue capability and always maintain combat readiness.
Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, pointed out in his written instruction that Jiangsu is now standing at a critical stage of industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality development, making it an arduous task and a heavy responsibility to promote development and ensure safety.
He hoped that the province's firefight and rescue teams will continue to carry forward the fine traditions, take on the responsibilities and missions of preventing and resolving major safety risks, and handling various types of disasters, enhance the comprehensive emergency rescue capabilities, and improve the team's professional quality and emergency command level.
Fan Jinlong, executive vice governor of Jiangsu, demanded that Party committees, governments and relevant departments at all levels throughout the province must implement their responsibilities, work together to support the reform of the emergency management system, and fully support the reform, construction, and development of firefighting and rescue teams.
At the flag-conferring ceremony of the national comprehensive firefighting and rescue force held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing in November last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping required a newly established national firefighting and rescue force on Friday to be loyal to the Party and to be dedicated to serving the people.
It is a strategic decision made by the CPC Central Committee to establish the firefighting and rescue force to modernize the capacity for governance, and it has great significance to improve the country's capacity to prevent disaster and to rescue people, safeguard public security and protect people's lives and property, Xi said.
The force is built up from the previous firefighting force under the public security authority and the previous forestry force under the armed police.
The force is currently under the administration of the Ministry of Emergency Management. It has special professional ranks as well as a special flag, badge, oath and uniform.
The force should be loyal to the Party, follow strict discipline, be brave to fight in all conditions and be dedicated to serving the people, Xi said.
The president said the force must help the people when they are in need and bravely protect people's lives and health.
Xi spoke highly of the prominent contributions made by the firefighting force to protecting the people.
The force should follow the absolute leadership of the Party, have strong belief, firmly safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and its centralized and unified leadership, firmly obey the orders of the Party, and always be the loyal guard of the Party and the people, Xi said.
