An inspection team from the State Council visited Jiangsu to check the rural living environment improvement.
The inspection team was headed by Ni Hong, vice minister of housing and urban-rural development.
Fan Jinlong, member of the standing committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and executive vice governor, met with the inspection team at a seminar held in Nanjing on Wednesday.
The improvement of the rural living environment is a task endorsed by a three-year action plan released by the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council.
Importance will be attached to the toilet revolution, sewage disposal and garbage disposal in the rural areas.
The inspection team will conduct surprise visits and sampling checks to ensure that the improvement has been advanced in the strict sense.
Fan Jinlong said Jiangsu has made greater efforts in recent years to improve the rural living environment with 95% of the toilets in the rural areas upgraded and garbage in 189000 villages are disposed of on a daily basis. Domestic sewage treatment is now being piloted in 46 counties.
China aims to improve rural living environment and build a moderately prosperous society in its vast rural regions by 2020, according to the new three-year action plan released last year.
Jointly released by the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council, the action plan is aimed at improving China's rural living environment, as part of the country's efforts to revitalize the countryside.
According to the plan, villages, especially their toilets, should be clean and tidy. The toilet waste should be well utilized for recycling. In some well-developed rural regions, 90 percent of the non-medical waste should be treated properly and modern toilets should be promoted widely.
