The village has therefore been turned into an Internet hit that receives more than 1 million visitors each year, which is a striking contrast to its former situation of being an empty nest village of 64 households with elders and children only.
Nanjing has so far launched more than 500 creative leisure agricultural sites of various kinds that receive 21 million visitors each year, generating 6.4 billion yuan of income.
In the first three quarters, the city’s per capita income for the rural residents surged to 21,096 yuan, up 9.4% year on year and 0.7 percentage points higher than that of the urban residents.
