As the first large-scale smart library in China, Suzhou Second Library is nearing completion and will be open to the public in November. What surprises has it prepared for us? Let’s take a look!
On the assembly lines, batches of books are being sorted, packed and carried by automated equipment, before being arranged in order on book shelves that are 14.5 meters tall. This is the first ever large scale smart library in China, able to contain approximately 7 million books. After its official launch, the system will be entirely automatic, and will deliver the book you ordered right to you.

Density of books will be higher
And they are not only collected
But also fully utilized
With the foundation of the smart library, the online borrowing function is now easier to use. Furthermore, the new construction includes areas for cultural exhibition, music library, design library and digital experience, which provide functions including exhibition, holographic projection, industrial design, 3d printing and virtual reality. Outside the construction is an ecological “cultural park” with an area of 120 thousand square meters, as a “third space” for citizens to learn, communicate, relax and experience high technology.
