East China’s Jiangsu province has spared no efforts to enhance ecological and environmental protection by reining in air pollution in the shipping lanes and river ports along the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal through the 263 Action Plan to ensure an overwhelming victory in ecological environmental governance as soon as possible.
Taicang Port has achieved full spray coverage on the yard, and a wind-proof and dust-proof net with a height of 19 meters and a total length of 2,368 meters has been built around the yard. The port receives pollutants from all vessels without charge.
Jiangyin Port has strengthened treatment of dust, sewage, garbage and emissions. Sulong Thermal Power Co., Ltd. has invested 30% of its total profit last year on building a steel structure greenhouse and completely sealing the coal in the yard. The port has also established closed corridors, wind and dust suppression walls, and sprays to effectively control dust.
Jiangyin Port also strengthened the promotion of extensive greening and new energy by relying on wind power for 50% of its electricity use. With a variety of power supply systems, such as wind and solar hybrids, photovoltaic energy, the port has been able to cut 5,994.30 tons of carbon dioxide emission per year.
By the end of this year, all the inland river ports in Jiangsu will be able to receive all the sewages from the passing ships while dust spray monitoring systems will be installed to effective curb dust spray.
The 263 Action Plan is a key initiative to fight against environmental pollution, which includes sub-themes like coal consumption reduction, the reduction of backward production capacity, hazardous waste governance and VOC governance.
The 263 Action Plan should be used as an important starting point for the implementation of the central government's requirements for the deployment of ecological environmental protection and the promotion of ecological and environmental protection in the province, according to the government.
