A Poetry Reading Concert and the 2019 Zijin Culture and Art Festival was kicked off Monday evening in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Founding of New China.
Among the provincial leaders attending the opening ceremony were Lou Qinjian, Wu Zhenglong, Huang Lixin, and Ren Zhenhe. They were joined by 2000 people from all walks of life in Jiangsu.
Pu Cunxing, a renowned actor, read aloud an 8-line poem singing high of the People’s Liberation Army’s occupation of Nanjing in April 1949.
Sheng Xiaohua, an acclaimed violinist, played a violin solo to eulogize the country’s huge achievements in the past 70 years.
The poetry reading concert reached its climax when famed singer Yin Xiumei sang Me and My Motherland.
The 2019 Zijin Culture and Art Festival runs from September 30 to October 30.
