Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, watched in Nanjing the live broadcast of the National Day grand rally celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at the Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on Tuesday. He was joined by Wu Zhenglong, the governor, Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the provincial CPPCC, Ren Zhenhe, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee, and other provincial leaders.
The provincial leaders got together at 9:40 in the fourth floor auditorium at the general office building of the provincial party committee.
When delivering a speech at the grand rally, President Xi Jinping remembered revolutionary forefathers and martyrs for their feats in pursuing national independence and liberation, a stronger and more prosperous country and the people's well-being.
Xi extended warm National Day congratulations to Chinese people of all ethnic groups and all compatriots at home and abroad.
Xi also expressed heartfelt gratitude to friends around the world for their caring for and support to China's development.
The founding of the People's Republic of China completely changed China's miserable fate of being poor and weak and being bullied and humiliated in over 100 years since the advent of modern times, Xi said.
"We gathered here today for a grand rally to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC," said Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
"Right at this moment, Chinese people of all ethnic groups and all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation at home and abroad take pride in and give our best wishes to our great motherland with great joy," he added.
"Seventy years ago on this day, Comrade Mao Zedong solemnly declared here to the world that the PRC was founded and the Chinese people had stood up," Xi said.
The Chinese nation has since then embarked on the path of realizing national rejuvenation, he said.
No force can ever shake the status of China, or stop the Chinese people and nation from marching forward, Xi said.
Xi said Chinese people of all ethnic groups have made great achievements that amaze the world, over the past seven decades through concerted efforts and arduous struggle.
Lou Qinjian and other provincial officials also watched the live broadcast of the mass pageantry on Tian'anmen Square following the grand military parade.
Themed "Jointly Fulfilling the Chinese Dream," the mass pageantry consisted of three chapters: Founding and Construction of the People's Republic, Reform and Opening-up, and Great Rejuvenation.
A total of 100,000 people and 70 floats in 36 formations joined the mass pageantry.
The mass pageantry presented the great journey in which the Communist Party of China has united and led Chinese people of all ethnic groups to stand up, grow rich and become strong, expressing the people's sincere praise and deep love for the Party and the motherland.
The Jiangsu officials agreed that the President has emphasized at National Day grand reception need to work together to overcome challenges and gain victory.
President Xi Jinping has called on Chinese people of all ethnicities, both at home and overseas, to unite in pushing forward the fulfillment of national rejuvenation on Monday, said the participants at the provincial meeting.
They pledged their determination to get united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee so as to make greater contribution to the construction of a new Jiangsu and create a new and greater miracle in the new journey of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
