A national flag-raising ceremony was held Tuesday morning at the Crossing-the-Yangtze Campaign Victory Square in Nanjing to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Among the provincial leaders attending the flag-raising ceremony were Lou Qinjian, Wu Zhenglong, Huang Lixin, and Ren Zhenhe. They were joined by people from all walks of life in Jiangsu.
At 9:20, the national flag was escorted by guards into the square. The crowd stood in silent as the national anthem was played, and the five-star national flag was raised.
Present at the national flag-raising ceremony were officials from the provincial party committee, the provincial people’s congress, the provincial government, the provincial CPPCC and the provincial military command, the provincial people’s higher court, the provincial people’s procuratorate and Nanjing municipal authorities.
Elsewhere across the province, a national flag-raising ceremony was held at the people’s square of Suqian city to the rhythms of the national anthem.
The national flag was raised in Nantong University library, the experimental primary school of Funing County, the Yinhe community of Huai’an and a sanatorium for retired officials in Huai’an to sing high of the CPC and express their best wishes for the motherland.
Early in the morning, in the Siyang section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, all the boats were parked in the waterway while the bright five-star red flag fluttered in the wind. The crew stood in the bow and sang the national anthem.
Hundreds of pupils in Kunshan and Jurong were organized to sing the national anthem and raise the national flag to greet the National Day.
The National Day is celebrated with a week-long holiday from October 1st to 7th.
