Deputies to the National and Provincial People’s Congress went on an inspection tour from Tuesday to Thursday to Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Yancheng and Huai’an to inspect the progress of the high-speed railway construction.
The inspection team learned about the progress of the construction on the high-speed railways connecting Lianyunang and Xuzhou, Qingdao and Lianyungang, Lianyungang and Yancheng and Lianyungang, Huai’an, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang.
Symposiums were held to hear the report on the provincial blueprint for high-speed railway construction and development.
The deputies were pleased to see that high-speed railway construction in Jiangsu has got a major boost from the national strategies.

I am hugely impressed by the railway construction in suburban Lianyungang, which has created a precedent in the province by making up the insufficiencies in suburban railway construction and making full use of the extra capabilities of the existing lines. The experience in Lianyungang is duplicable in other places such as old industrial cities, mining cities and port cities.

We have already included the legislative plan for railway safety construction and operation in the 13th Five-Year Plan. We will conduct in-depth investigation and advance work according to legislative requirements.
Senior leaders from the provincial people’s congress Chen Zhenning, Liu Handong and Chen Mengmeng were present during the inspection tour.
Vice Governor Fei Gaoyun also participated in the inspection.
