Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, went on an inspection tour Tuesday to the provincial department of housing and urban-rural development to learn about the progress of urban sewage treatment and construction of livable cities.
Wu Zhenglong said that strengthening water pollution prevention and resolutely combat water pollution for clear water is an important symbol for promoting high-quality development, adding that it is of great significance to building a "strong, rich and beautiful" new Jiangsu and building a comprehensively well-off society at a high level.
The Governor said the efforts for water pollution prevention and control are practical implementation of the national campaign of staying true to the Party’s founding mission.
He demanded that the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era must be followed in the efforts for water pollution prevention and control by treating the root causes and strengthening the problem-oriented approach.
The treatment of domestic sewage is of paramount importance to the improvement of the rural living environment, he said.
The Governor demanded that greater efforts should be made to increase technical innovation and promote green development and circular development, give full play to the role of government and market, optimize industrial structure, control water pollution, and protect water environment.
The Governor also urged the housing and urban-rural development authorities at all levels in the province to adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, uphold the "four consciousnesses" and safeguard the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as the core so as to better meet the people's yearning for a better life and push the work to a new height.
Wu Zhenglong also visited the exhibition of outstanding design works for livable villages, hoping that the housing and urban-rural development authorities will better gather innovative resources, enable the traditional villages and old villages renew their vitality in the protection and utilization process and promote the rural revitalization strategy.
