East Chinas Jiangsu province will strengthen the inspection on its departments and local governments so as to make sure that government policies are implemented and the major tasks of social and economic development this year will be completed.

A province-wide inspection meeting was held Tuesday in Nanjing. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, gave instructions on the promotion of the inspection campaign across the province.

The meeting was presided over by Jiang Zhuoqing, standing member of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and head of the provincial disciplinary inspection commission. He is also director of the Provincial Supervisory Committee and head of the leading group for inspection under the Provincial Party Committee.

Lou Qinjian demanded that the province's inspection agencies and inspection officials should thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era, in particular inspection and disciplinary inspection.

The inspection will cover six fields, including the battle of preventing major risks, reducing poverty and fighting pollution, and the revitalization of rural areas; the implementation of innovation-driven development, promoting new industries and upgrading traditional industries; and the reform to streamline administration, delegate powers, and improve regulation and services.

Local governments performance in expanding domestic demand, promoting high-quality opening-up and improving peoples livelihood will also be inspected.

They are asked to conduct self-inspections from the day the notice is issued and submit reports to the State Council of any problems they discover and measures they take.

The State Council has sent inspection groups to provincial-level governments to conduct open talks and private interviews with people in communities, hospitals, schools, businesses, research institutes and government service halls. The inspection teams will also open social media accounts to receive complaints from the public.

Officials who fail to implement the central governments decisions, major construction projects and administrative reform will be held accountable.
