The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee convened a study session Thursday on the promotion of the national education campaign of staying true to the Part’s founding mission among all Party members by studying the history of the Communist Party of China and the People's Republic of China.

Present at the study session were Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the provincial CPPCC and Ren Zhenghe, deputy secretary of the CPC Provincial Committee.

The study session was presided over by Guo Wenqi, member of the standing committee and head of the organization department of the CPC Provincial Committee.

Wu Xueqing, former deputy head of the office for the research on the history of the CPC, was invited to give a lecture.

Party members were urged to study the history of the Communist Party of China and the People's Republic of China during the ongoing education campaign themed "staying true to our founding mission," according to a recent official directive issued by the CPC Central Committee.

Party members and officials should learn milestone events, meetings, documents and historic figures throughout the history of the CPC and PRC, said the directive from the leading group of the campaign published Wednesday.

Studying the 170-year history of modern China, the 98-year history of the CPC and the 70-year history of the PRC will deepen Party members' and officials' understanding of the campaign theme and strengthen their confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the document said.

Party organizations at all levels are required to make specific arrangements for the study and establish a long-term mechanism incorporating the study into regular education programs for Party members and officials.
