Nanjing City held a press conference in Beijing, the capital of China, on July 30 to unveil 47 measures to boost the aviation industry development.
In February, Nanjing received the approval to develop the demonstrative zone of airport economy at the national level. With a planned area of 81.84 square kilometers, the zone has some great advantages as it’s located south of the main downtown area and less than 40 kilometers from the seat of Nanjing’s government. The zone is seen as a key hub in the broader city clusters along the lower reaches of Yangtze River and an important part of the Nanjing-Shanghai, Nanjing-Hangzhou economic heartlands.
The demonstrative zone is already home to more than 20 enterprises specialized in aviation maintenance and manufacturing and over 60 aviation logistics providers, covering services of Boeing 777 passenger-to-freighter conversion, MRO (aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul), and aircraft engine R&D. In the past three years, the zone’s GDP increased 12.9 percent a year on average. The added values from the aviation manufacturing industry and the aviation logistics industry reached 39.3 percent and 30.8 percent, respectively.
Nanjing's airport economy is mainly concentrated in fields of aviation manufacturing, operating base of airlines, cross-border e-commerce, and high-tech industries. Amid the pragmatic policy incentives, the zone signed agreements to host 13 projects at the press conference.
