The city of Nanjing has pinpointed its role of being the meeting point of the Belt and Road to upgrade the urban core functions and resources allocation through facilities connection, innovation cooperation, capacity docking, trade expansion, carrier enhancement and people-to-people exchanges, according to an implementation plan released recently.
Nanjing has sorted out 47 major investment projects for the Belt and Road initiative.
Most of the investment will go to trade and economic cooperation while the city will also promote industrial capacity cooperation docking and support enterprises in AI, NEVs and IC to seek overseas presence.
It will also invite the enterprises in the Belt and Road countries to launch investment in Nanjing to open up the Belt and Road markets in an all-round way.
Nanjing will also speed up the layout of transportation infrastructure, give full play to its advantages in aviation, highways and railways, accelerate the construction of cross-river passages and high-speed road networks, and improve the hexagonal high-speed railway network.
Efforts will be made to ensure that Nanjing will be within a four-hour flight distance with Northeast and Southeast Asian countries and 12-hour distance with major cities in the world.
Other aspects to be highlighted include the promotion of international cooperation for financial institutions, the optimization of cross-border investment and the strengthening of people-to-people exchanges with sister cities around the world.
