Nearly 3,000 medical experts and scholars from home and abroad participated the 3rd China-US Health Cooperation Forum held in Suzhou on June 22 and 23, exchanging ideas on academic research progress, hospital development, international cooperation, personnel training, and other areas.

As the China-US Health Alliance was formally established in the forum, both sides are expected to increase contacts, strengthen the development of medical specialties, and explore new modes of international cooperation.

David C. Read

The sharing of technologies such as genomics and biobank will bring more convenience to patients and case studies, especially in clinical treatment, said David C. Read from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School. Because of the large population in China, symptoms of some patients have never been seen in the United States and are worth studying.

Ashok Saluja

Ashok Saluja from the American Pancreatic Association said he was eager to find like-minded partners in the forum. He also said that pancreatic cancer research has made slow progress in the past 40 years and more cooperation is certainly needed to expand the research sample in order to promote disease research, invention of new drugs and therapy.

Michael Gillespie

After a visit to the Suzhou Children's Hospital and Wuxi Children's Hospital, Michael Gillespie from Boston Children's Hospital, one of the world's largest pediatric medical centers, said he was amazed at how quickly Chinese doctors can take care of a child in the hospital. He hoped to discuss with Chinese experts in this forum and learn about successful experiences.
