Jingjiang City, which lies at the southernmost tip of Taizhou, has marked off nearly 20 kilometers out of more than 50 kilometers of the Yangtze River coastline for the construction of ecological wetlands and parks.
Gaogang District has prohibited industrial development in the 2.2-kilometer deep-water coastline. Xinghua has strived to build an ecological park for the province. Among the 96.3 km-long Yangtze River coastline, 27.45 km is planned to be a living and ecological protection shoreline, and more than 50% of the coastline will be used to construct a 12-kilometer Yangtze River ecological wetland and green corridor project.
The city has also taken the lead in the province by releasing the "Special Plan for Ecological Protection and Space Utilization along the Yangtze River", strengthening the red line management of ecological protection from the institutional level, and rationally distributing production, ecology and living space along the Yangtze River.
China has made environmental protection and restoration a top priority in its development plan for the Yangtze River economic belt.
The development of the economic belt will follow a green path, with the strictest environmental protection and water resources management measures, according to an official from the leading group of the Yangtze River economic belt development.
