Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, visited Japan on Wednesday and Thursday. Lou addressed the Jiangsu-Japan Open Innovation Cooperation Exchange Meeting that was held in Tokyo. Nobuhiko Sasaki, Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization, Yoshio Nakata, chairman of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade and Song Yaoming, the Economy and Commerce Envoy of China’s Embassy in Japan, delivered speeches.
Nearly 700 guests from China and Japan attended the exchange meeting.
Lou Qinjian said that many Japanese friends in the past centuries visited China by way of Jiangsu, adding that both banks of the Yangtze River is the most developed region in China with the most competitive economic and cultural development, innovation and entrepreneurship, and also the destination with the largest number of Japanese investment.
He hoped that more Japanese friends will set foot on the land of Jiangsu and get to know more about Jiangsu through deep cooperation and exchanges.
The CPC Provincial chief said Jiangsu is endowed with the overlapping opportunities from three important national strategies that include the Belt and Road initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
Jiangsu has accelerated structural adjustment, comprehensively promoted transformation and upgrading, and boosted high-quality development so as to create a better future, which entails many development opportunities both for Jiangsu and Japan, said Lou, adding that Jiangsu is willing to cooperate with Japanese friends to create a better future.
He said that Jiangsu should strengthen its deep understanding of Japan and learn from Japan while Japan should also see Jiangsu's development opportunities to promote high-quality development and strive for better cooperation so as to meet the needs and advantages of the two sides and work together to create more new development miracles and achieve beneficial cooperation so that both sides can develop and progress.
The CPC Provincial chief put forth five cooperative suggestions that include market development and cooperation for win-win and build cooperation mechanisms at all levels under the framework of Belt and Road between governments, industrial parks, and enterprises, and jointly explore third-party markets.
He also suggested both sides would promote win-win cooperation of science and technology innovation, in particular in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, electronic information by focusing on cutting-edge cooperation in the fields of industry and technology.
It is also very important for both sides to seek win-win in eco-environmental cooperation and strengthen all-round cooperation in terms of environmental protection technology, standards, industry and talents.
He also hoped that more efforts will be made for comprehensive win-win cooperation in the transportation industry with Japan in terms of creating a seamless transportation system.
It is hoped that the win-win cooperation in social services will continuously deepen cooperation in various fields such as education, medical care, old-age care, culture, tourism and fine management of society, he said.
Song Yaoming said in his speech that the opening of this open innovation cooperation exchange meeting serves as the implementation of the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Japan, adding that Jiangsu is a model of regional cooperation between China and Japan. It is hoped that all sectors of Japan will seize the opportunity to further deepen the exchanges and cooperation with Jiangsu to achieve win-win development and create a better future.
Nobuhiko Sasaki and Yoshio Nakata said that Jiangsu has admirable development achievements and superior business environment. Japanese companies have a good development momentum in Jiangsu and Jiangsu has a greater market potential and broad development prospects. They are willing to support and promote innovative cooperation and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides and enhance cooperation to help promote Jiangsu's high quality development.
Japanese business tycoons and entrepreneurs from Jiangsu addressed the meeting. Li Yaping, mayor of Suzhou, also gave a promotional speech.
Cooperative agreements were signed at the exchange meeting.
