The first high-level forum on integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta was held Wednesday in Wuhu city, east China’s Anhui province.
Li Qiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, delivered a speech. Li Jinbin, secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, presided over the forum.
In his speech, Li Qiang pointed out that the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta has a long history. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta has continued to gather momentum. Since last year, the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta has entered a new stage of comprehensive acceleration.
The high quality and integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta has achieved higher quality and integrated development by better guiding the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and better serving the overall situation of national development, said Li Qiang.
He said the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta is the ardent hope placed by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Party Central Committee and in response to the 220 million people in the Yangtze River Delta.
Li Qiang pointed out that the new era is an era of reform and innovation, as is evidenced by the vivid practice of reform and innovation through the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
He stressed that this high-level forum has built a new platform for the Yangtze River Delta to exchange ideas and views.
The forum was hosted by the Joint Conference for Yangtze River Delta Cooperation and Development.
Xu Xianping, Counselor of the State Council and Distinguished Professor of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University；Zhou Hanmin， Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic National Construction Association and Vice Chairman of the Shanghai CPPCC； and Liu Qingfeng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HKUST, made keynote speeches.
The experts held round-table discussions on high-quality integration, strong growth, and scientific allocation of resources to create a dynamic power source.
Under the memorandum, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui will gradually realize unified market rules, credit governance, and market supervision under the guidance of the Ministry of Commerce and the State Administration for Market Regulation, and jointly promote the integration of market systems in the Yangtze River Delta region.
In addition to the local action, the National Development and Reform Commission is now compiling a plan for integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, representing the top-level design for the regional development.
