The consumer price index in Jiangsu rose by 2.7% year-on-year in April. The prices of fresh vegetables and pork have a greater impact on the increase of the consumer prices, the provincial squad of the National Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday.
In April, Jiangsu’s consumer prices rose by 2.7% year-on-year, an increase of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, the price of foodstuffs and tobacco, which carries the highest weight, increased by 5% year-on-year, and the price of non-food tobacco and alcohol rose by 1.8%.
Fresh vegetables saw the biggest price rise, and the price of pork, chicken and fresh melon increased by more than 10% while the price of freshwater fish dropped.
The prices of daily necessities and the expenses on services, education, culture and entertainment are among the highest increase.
The price of food, tobacco and alcohol fell slightly, and the price of fresh vegetables fell by 5.6%. The prices of other seven categories of goods and services remained basically stable.
