More than 1,200 talents from over 30 countries attended the 12th Conference for Overseas Chinese Professionals that opened Tuesday in Nanjing.
The annual edition of the conference is themed on promotion of an innovative city by gathering talents in the new era.
Zhang Jinghua, member of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and secretary of Nanjing Municipal Party Committee addressed the opening ceremony.
Vice Governor Guo Yuanqiang and Huang Wei, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, also spoke at the opening ceremony.
The leaders gave out the awards for the winners of the finals of 2019 "Winning in Nanjing" Overseas Talent Entrepreneurship Competition.
Poverty alleviation is highlighted at the conference in a bid to provide brainpower support to the less developed regions.
208 R&D institutions and 250 enterprises and organizations will offer 200 and 700 vacancies for post-docs and master’s and doctoral degree holders.
67 large enterprises will offer 180 high-salaried jobs with annual salaries running up to 300,000 yuan.
The Conference for Overseas Chinese Professionals has recruited 38000 overseas Chinese returnees since its launch in 2008.
