After years of rail track-laying, the Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai’an-Yancheng railway was connected Tuesday morning to pave way for its operation at the end of this year.
The steel rail tracks were laid down at 11:30 Tuesday morning with the rail surface smoothness elevation controlled at 0.2 mm to ensure the safety of high-speed trains. Static acceptance will be carried out on July 26 before joint test starts on September 3. The railway will be operational on December 28.
The Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai’an-Yancheng railway is a east-west high-speed railway passing through Xuzhou, Suqian, Huai'an and Yancheng. The main line is 316.27 kilometers long and has a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It is one of the four vertical and four horizontalhigh-speed railway networks in Jiangsu and an important passage across the hinterland of northern Jiangsu.
Upon its operation, the railway will become another rail track supplementing the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and cut the travel time from north Jiangsu to Nanjing and Shanghai.
