
East China’s Jiangsu province celebrated the 70th anniversary of Yangtze River Crossing Campaign on Tuesday in a variety of ways.
More than 100 people in Shuangshan Island of Zhangjiagang gathered at the local memorial park to mark the special day and pay tribute to the heroes.
A 93-year-old veteran, who participated in the campaign, recounted the heroic battles. The island was the eastern theater of the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign. The PLA soldiers killed more than 50 Kuomintang troops and captured over 400 as POWs.

An archives exhibition was held in Wuxi to pay tribute to the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign by displaying medals of honor and certificates.
A theatrical performance was held in Jiangyin to mark the the 70th anniversary of Yangtze River Crossing Campaign. Some 200 veteran cadres joined in the event to recall the past glories and look forward to a bright future.
Young pioneers in Yangzhong staged a simulated Yangtze River Crossing Campaign in their theme activity to demonstrate the heroic battles in the campaign.
