The Jiangsu Provincial Archives declassified 684 archives of the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign Monday morning in Nanjing in collaboration with the archives in Nanjing, Xuzhou, Yangzhou and Taizhou.

The archives, declassified for the first time, concern the period before and after the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign that lasts from September 1948 to July 1949.

They also contain the historical files concerning peoples support to the front-line in wheelbarrows and small boats.

The Yangtze River Crossing Campaign was a military campaign launched by the People's Liberation Army to cross the Yangtze River and capture Nanjing, the capital of the Nationalist government of the Kuomintang, in the final stage of the Chinese Civil War. The campaign began at night on 20 April, and lasted until 2 June 1949, concluding after the fall of Nanjing and Shanghai to the Communist forces.
