The 12th China Embroidery Culture and Art Festival kicked off Thursday in the New and Hi-tech Zone of Suzhou.
The opening ceremony saw the launch of a strategic plan for the revival of the Suzhou Embroidery in a bid to explore new ways of inheriting, protecting and developing Suzhou Embroidery Art through the national-level project.
The ceremony also saw the start of the stitching on the embroidery gift for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The embroidery gift will be stitched by 14 embroidery masters and their apprentices before making debut during this year’s National Day holiday.
The embroidery culture and art festival will present a feast of embroidery culture shared by China and foreign countries through high-end dialogues among industry masters, experts and designers, and embroidery popularization and experience activities.
