Xinfeng Town of Dafeng District in Yancheng City has adhered to the concept of ecological priority and green development in recent years to shift from the traditional path of economic development to making full use of the natural resources by planting tulip on a widespread area of saline-alkali land to come up with a new road of high quality development.

During the Qingming Festival holiday, the Tulip Scenic Area in Xinfeng Town received a total of 675,000 domestic and foreign tourists. The vast area of Tulip grows from a vast area of barren saline-alkali land.

The development of traditional agriculture is limited by natural conditions. However, the local government has not chosen industrial projects to boost the local economy. Instead, it has opted for making full use of the ecological and natural resources to cultivate tulips on a wide scale.

Over the years, Xinfeng Town has maintained its strategic focus in economic development and resolutely declined offer from investment projects that will produce pollution, laying a solid foundation for the development of the seas of tulip and earned it a good reputation in the north of the province and even the entire province.

In the past two years, the local government has succeeded in creating a flower-appreciation pattern in the four seasons through differentiated planting, and given rise to many green industries associated with flowers.

The local flower market has set up a flower arrangement training class to train professional flower arrangement talents and let the flowers dress up thousands of families.

By circulating tens of thousands of farming land, the local government has also enabled rural surplus laborers to be transferred to jobs related with tulip cultivation and marketing so as to boost their income growth.

The local government has also opened a horticultural technical consultation hotline to support farmers in the development of the tulip-related industry. With the continuous extension of the ecological industry chain, more than 3,000 farmers in 8 villages around the sea of tulip have embarked on the road to prosperity.

Since 2012, the Dutch flower sea has grown from a desolate land into a fragrant sea of flowers with the largest cultivation, the most diverse species, the most beautiful form and the most complete pattern of tulip flowers, giving rise to the competitive development of the tourism, flowers, wedding and culture industries. It received a total of 2.91 million tourists last year, posting a comprehensive tourism income of nearly 300 million yuan.
