Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met Wednesday in Nanjing with Consul Generals of foreign countries to Shanghai. The foreign diplomats are in Nanjing for a round table conference of Jiangsu and foreign consulates in Shanghai.
On behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, Lou Qinjian extended his warm welcome to Consul Generals and expressed appreciation for the role of the Consul Generals in promoting exchanges and cooperation between their country and Jiangsu.
Lou said that he is very happy to receive guests from all over the world in the picturesque season, adding that Jiangsu is profound with historical and cultural heritage and he hoped that the foreign diplomats will visit all parts of Jiangsu.
When briefing the guests on Jiangsu's economic and social development, the CPC Provincial chief said that General Secretary Xi Jinping has given Jiangsu a major positioning as the meeting point of the "Belt and Road" initiative, which has urged the province to promote all-round and high-level opening up and to build a fair, equitable, transparent and predictable first-class international business environment.
Lou Qinjian said Jiangsu's development has benefited from the country’s reform and opening up, and its opening to the outside world has been at the forefront of the country.
According to Lou, Jiangsu has twinned with 328 foreign cities in 61 countries and regions in the program of friendship cities, and established economic and trade ties with more than 200 countries and regions. Last year, the province’s total import and export volume reached 4.38 trillion yuan.
We are willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries in building industrial parks, technological innovation, cultural tourism, etc., promote economic globalization, promote complementary advantages, achieve win-win development, and strive to serve enterprises that have launched investment projects in Jiangsu, the CPC provincial chief said.
He hoped that the Consul Generals will promote their governments and enterprises of their country to continuously deepen the reciprocal cooperation with Jiangsu under the framework of the “Belt and Road” and actively participate in and support various important international activities of Jiangsu.
The Consul Generals said that they were very happy to be invited to Jiangsu to participate in the round table meeting.
Speaking on behalf of the Consul Generals, Ms. Brigitte Robinson-Seyrlehner, Consul General of Austria in Shanghai, said that the “Belt and Road” is the most far-sighted initiative and Austria is willing to participate in this great initiative and work together to promote mutually beneficial development.
The Consul Generals spoke highly of the good business environment in Jiangsu, adding that they are grateful for the quality service provided by Jiangsu’s enterprises. They also expressed their willingness to jointly safeguard the bridge of friendship, encourage more enterprises to invest in Jiangsu, and promote the advancement of friendly cooperation with Jiangsu.
Top provincial leaders Fan Jinlong and Guo Yuanqiang were present at the meeting.
