East China’s Jiangsu province signed a cooperation framework agreement in Beijing Friday in Beijing with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on the launch of a pilot province Ecological environment governance system and modernization of governance capacity. Before the signing ceremony, CPC provincial chief Lou Qinjian and provincial governor Wu Zhenglong met with Li Ganjie, Minister of Ecology and Environment during a working meeting.
Lou and Wu thanked the Ministry of Ecology and Environment for its long-term support for the development of Jiangsu.
Lou said that Jiangsu adheres to Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics as a guide, practices Xi Jinping's ecological civilization, adheres to environmental protection and industrial transformation, and step up the efforts for pollution prevention and control so that the province's ecological environment quality and green development level have been significantly improved.
According to the CPC Provincial chief, Jiangsu will act in accordance with the central government's deployment of ecological civilization construction, implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping when attending a panel discussion with lawmakers from Inner Mongolian during the annual session of the NPC, maintain the strategic resolve of strengthening the construction of ecological civilization, shoulder great responsibility for protection and governance, explore new ways of high-quality development by prioritizing ecological and green development, and provide a good ecological and environmental support for the construction of a new Jiangsu.
Wu Zhenglong briefed the participants on the situation of environmental protection and governance in Jiangsu province, saying that Jiangsu will conscientiously implement the cooperation agreement and effectively strengthen the ecological environment governance system and the modernization of governance capacity.
On behalf of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Li Ganjie expressed his gratitude to the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government for their long-term support for the work of the national ecological environmental protection authorities. He said that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will make in-depth study and implement Xi Jinping thought on ecological civilization, maintain the resolve of ecological environmental protection construction, give support to Jiangsu in its battle against pollution, and make joint efforts for the promotion of the province’s high-quality development of the economy and high level of protection of ecological environment.
He stressed that it is important to implement the agreement, establish a sound cooperation mechanism, and strive to create a sample in Jiangsu for the country’s ecological environment governance system and the modernization of governance capacity in Jiangsu, providing replicable, scalable, and applicable experiences for the modernization of the national ecological environment governance system and governance capacity system.
Wu Zhenglong and Li Ganjie signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.
According to the cooperation framework agreement, the two sides will carry out strategic cooperation on the launch of a pilot province for eco-environmental governance system and the modernization of governance capacity, including the improvement of the ecological environment supervision system and policy system, and the improvement of the ecological environment, the rule of law system, the construction of an ecological environment and social action system, the promotion of the reform of the ecological environment management system and the modernization of the ecological environment governance capacity.
