Nanjing University and Suzhou Municipal People's Government signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement Saturday on the launch of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus. The Jinling College of Nanjing University will be relocated to Suzhou High-tech Zone, according to the agreement.
Zhou Naixiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Committee, and Hu Jinbo and Lyu Jian, leaders of Nanjing University, attended the signing ceremony.
According to the agreement, the two parties will adopt a four-in-one cooperation model of "talent training, technological innovation, international exchange, and industrial development" to jointly build a first-class high-level applied university, an innovative graduate school, and first-class international college with a group of first-class innovative technology research and development platforms and industrial bases
The campus will have a total planned area of about 13333 square meters. Upon its completion, Jinling College of Nanjing University will be relocated to Suzhou High-tech Zone. On this basis, the college will further optimize its degree programs, and intensify the efforts to build it into a first-class applied college. Enrollment on the Suzhou Campus will begin in September 2021.
Zhou Naixiang hoped that the two parties will get off from the new starting point with the signing of the agreement, seize the historical opportunity of multilevel overlapping effects of national strategies such as the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, to ensure that the Suzhou campus of Nanjing University will maintain growth momentum and provide new growth engines for Suzhou’s social and economic development.
He said that the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government will attach great importance to and fully support the all-round cooperation with Nanjing University, work together to make Nanjing University a world-class university as soon as possible, inject more powerful momentum into the integration and development of Nanjing University and Suzhou, and work together to promote the cooperation between the two sides.
