The Jiangsu delegation to the Second Session of the 13th National People's Congress held its first plenary meeting Monday afternoon. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, was elected head of the Jiangsu delegation. Wu Zhenglong, Jiang Zhuoqing, Wang Like, and Chen Zhenning were elected as deputy heads.
Lou Qinjian presided over the plenary meeting of the delegation, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the guidance of Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics so as to make the annual session a success in accordance with the requirements of the Central Party Committee.
He said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, a crucial year for promoting high-quality development and also a crucial year for making the final spurt for building a well-off society in an all-round way and achieving the first centennial goal.
The CPC Provincial Chief urged the province to comprehensively study and comprehend General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thinking on upholding and perfecting the people's congress system, adhere to the organic unity of the party's leadership and the rule of law, and ensure that the thoughts and actions follow the central government's analysis and judgment of the current situation and the decision-making deployment of economic and social development.
With a strong sense of political responsibility and historical mission, we must conscientiously perform our duties as NPC deputies, closely follow the requirements of high-quality development, establish a global and developmental vision, adhere to systematic thinking, dialectical thinking, bottom-line thinking, and scientifically analyze the crisis in the changes for the completion of the delegation’s tasks with high quality, said the CPC Provincial Chief.
Lou Qinjian also called on the NPC deputies to abide by the rules of discipline, study and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on ensuring the integrity and implementing the regulations of the annual session, strengthen the supervision over the annual legislative session and ensure that the Jiangsu delegation will establish a good image of being clean honest and frugal.
Deputies to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) gathered Monday morning at a preparatory meeting to elect the presidium and secretary-general and set the agenda for the second session of the 13th NPC scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
