According to Suzhou Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, the city received a total of 2,916,300 domestic and foreign tourists during the week-long Spring Festival holiday. Total tourism revenue was 3.858 billion yuan.
During the holiday, the Suzhou Museum received more than 70,000 visitors. The scenic spots in Suzhou hosted a variety of celebrations with the characteristics of Suzhou folk culture. People could not only visit the flower show in the Lingering Garden, the plum exhibition in the Lion Grove Garden and the temple fair at Tiger Hill, but also attend colorful folk activities in ancient water towns like Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Mudu and Luzhi. The culture-themed tourism activities along the Yangtze River and around the Jinji Lake, the Taihu Lake, the Yangcheng Lake and the Shanghu Lake also attracted many tourists.
According to a sample survey conducted by Suzhou Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, a majority of the tourists were from Nanjing, Wuxi, Nantong and other places in Jiangsu Province, as well as from Shanghai City and Zhejiang Province. There were also a lot of tourists coming from Beijing and provinces like Shandong, Henan and Guangdong.
