The world's largest ro-ro ship, the Danish Gothia Seaways, was launched Saturday from Nanjing Jinling Shipyard. The ship is 237.4 meters long, 33 meters wide and has a load capacity of 15,500 tons. It has 5 decks and 6700 meters of lanes and can accommodate 450 standard container trailers, making it the largest and most advanced ro-ro in the world. The ro-ro ship is the first of the same type of sea-going vessels built by Jinling Shipyard for Denmark in batches. The cost of building a single ship is about 400 million yuan. The ship will sail on routes in such countries as Turkey, France and Italy.
