The Provincial Department of Ecological Environment has recently issued the Administrative Measures for Automatic Monitoring Stations for Environmental Air Quality in Jiangsu Province (Trial operation) in order to strengthen the operation and management of the automatic monitoring station for environmental air quality in the province, and ensure that the monitoring data is objective and accurate.
The automatic air monitoring station, as referred to in the Measures, includes the national environmental air quality monitoring network urban stations and those built or entrusted to a third party for construction by the provincial level and the municipal and county governments. It also includes automatic air stations built for all types of special purposes.
The "Measures" stipulate that the automat air monitoring stations at all levels are not allowed to cease operation, change, increase or decrease the environmental air monitoring points, damage monitoring equipment and auxiliary facilities, and adopt artificial blocking and spraying to interfere with sampling port or surrounding environment without the approval of the competent department.
The third-party operation and maintenance organization shall conduct on-site inspection and maintenance at least once a week, and make records according to national and provincial quality management requirements.
Government staff, air automatic station operation and maintenance personnel involved in the interference and intervention of air automatic station monitoring will be investigated and held accountable for related responsibilities according to law.
