CPC Provincial Chief visits military barracks

  Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, visited an army group in Xuzhou on Tuesday.

  On behalf of the provincial party committee, the provincial government and the people of the province, Lou Qinjian extended his sincere thanks to the military servicemen and servicewomen for their contributions to the economic and social development of Jiangsu and his holiday greetings to all the troops in Jiangsu.

  At a symposium held in Xuzhou, Lou briefed the officers and soldiers on the province’s efforts for high quality development and the construction of a new Jiangsu.

  He said that for a long time, the officers and soldiers of the Jiangsu troops have taken Jiangsu as their hometown, regarded the local people as relatives, and supported local development. In particular, they have greatly assisted in undertaking urgent and dangerous tasks and helping to get rid of poverty, and consolidated the unity of the military, government, and the people for the promotion of local development and progress.

  In the new year, Jiangsu will implement Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches on the work of Jiangsu, carry forward the fine tradition of military and civilian integration, and further improve the placement, employment and schooling for the military servicemen and their dependants so as to give full play to the its role of the strong backing for the reform and development of the armed forces and a strong guarantee for realizing the party's goal of making the armed forces powerful under the new situation.

  The CPC Provincial Chief inspected Wang Jie’s company where he carefully watched photos, diaries and other precious objects, listened carefully to the introduction of the heroic deeds, and learned more about the glorious history of the company. Wang Jie, a former PLA soldier who sacrificed himself to save his comrades from a misplaced land mine during a drill in Xuzhou in 1965.

  The spirit of Wang Jie has influenced and inspired generations and is our precious spiritual wealth, Lou said, adding that in the new era, we must learn from and carry forward this spirit, keep a low profile, work hard, be willing to contribute, and make new contribution to Jiangsu's development.
