East China’s Jiangsu province kicked off Wednesday in Nanjingthe fourth national economic census registration.
On the first working day of the new year, census instructor Fan Liyang and his colleagues came to Hongyang Square in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area to carry out census registration.
Fan Liyang is responsible for the census registration of Taishan Sub-district in Jiangbei New Area. The main targets of the economic census are all legal entities, industrial activity units and self-employed households in the secondary and tertiary industries. The main contents of the census include the basic conditions of the census, personnel wages, production capacity, and property status.
At an oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday, 20 grassroots census workers in Nanjing, on behalf of nearly 90,000 census instructors and census enumerators in the province, took an oath to strictly abide by statistical laws and regulations, abide by data confidentiality regulations, and complete the census task.
China's fourth national economic census will conduct household registrations between January 1 and the end of April. Census takers will visit households to collect information.
China conducts its national economic census every five years. City planners use the data to understand the current state of economic development and to forecast and shape the local economy over time.
The economic census is aimed at capturing the latest changes and features of the Chinese economy and helping improve the authenticity of statistics data.
The economic census is one of China's major censuses of national conditions and will investigate the development of the country's industrial and tertiary sectors.
The census will cover about 30 million impersonal entities and industrial activity units as well as about 60 million self-employed entrepreneurs.
China has implemented three national economic censuses so far, conducted in 2004, 2008, and 2013 respectively.
