On the National Memorial Day last year, two “tear-making comics” were shared on many people’s MicroBlogs and Wechats. The little girl in rags from 1937 on the left side of the picture is staring at the girl from 2017 on the right side. The comics suddenly touched the softest spot of people.

Coming from Beijing, the creative team of the comics is consisted of three people. Among them, Zhu Yan is a cartoonist, and Zhou Shaogang and Deng Lingling are responsible for scripts and planning.

In the picture, a little girl from 1937 and the other one from 2017 are looking at each other through the tunnel of time, reaching their hands to grab each other. A line of words in between separates them coldly “I lived in chaos, and I wish you every joy”. This comic picture was going viral on last National Memorial Day when the netizens changed the year from 2016 to 2017 and moved thousands of people to tears.

However, the team soon realized that 300,000 victims are merely a number now. Only by showing a picture of the people from that time, can they bring people nowadays back to the historic scenes 80 years ago. Then they made more discussions about whether to create a sequel for the two little girls in the previous picture.

At 9 am, on Dec, 13th this year, Zhu’s team published a new work for the fifth National Memorial Day since its establishment.
