The breathtaking achievements in Jiangsu's scientific and technological development and social and economic growth since the reform and opening up, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, have won accolade at the national exhibition "Great Change - Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up" that is being held in Beijing.
The Jiaolong submersible, China’s first unmanned submersible, can reach 7062 meters deep at the maximum. The No. 702 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Group in Wuxi has undertaken the research and development of the submersible, which also provides the province’s technical support for China to dive into the deep sea.
Since the reform and opening up, Jiangsu has continued to promote technological innovation and support high-quality development. The "Sunway Light of Taihu", the fastest computer in the world, has been featured in this national exhibition.
In the Breathtaking Infrastructure Development exhibition, a visitor from Hebei Province took a snapshot of the Danyang-Kunshan Extra Large Railway Bridge on the 165-kilometer Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway.
Since the beginning of the country’s reform and opening up in 1978, Jiangsu has undergone tremendous world-shocking changes, as is evidenced by the trio-purpose Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge for the passage of subway trains, passenger-cargo trains and high-speed trains, the 12.5-meter deep-water Yangtze River channel to the downstream of Nanjing, the average daily handling of 1 million courier mails, and the China Post Nanjing Distribution Center which ranks first in Asia.
Up to now, the exhibition "Great Change - Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up" has seen more than 1 million visitors.
