The inaugural forum on cultural tradition closed Tuesday in Wuxi city. The event was sponsored by Guangming Daily, the Publicity Department of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Wuxi Municipal Party Committee. A main forum, nine sub-forums and a round table were held during the forum. The three provinces and one municipality in the Yangtze River Delta, namely Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai, have reached consensus on coordinating and strengthening the study of the Jiangnan culture so as to build a high-end platform for research and dissemination of the Jiangnan culture. Jiangnan refers to the geographical area, as the name implies, meaning literally the south of the Yangtze River. In the concept of human geography, it refers to the south of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
