Experts at the ongoing Yangtze River Delta Cultural Expo have offered suggestions concerning how to fully stimulate the cultural innovation vitality of the Yangtze River Delta, and build the Yangtze River Delta into an influential cultural city cluster with international fame.
At the "Canal Culture" theme forum hosted by Jiangsu Province, experts from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai offered suggestions concerning the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta section of the Grand Canal, and the protection, inheritance and utilization of the Grand Canal so as to make the Grand Canal a shared wealth for the people of the Yangtze River Delta.
Jiangsu announced the establishment of the Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Development Fund at the forum. The fund provides targeted support to the construction of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park and the integrated culture and tourism development by injecting 20 billion yuan in the first phase.
Experts believe that the Grand Canal integrates many regional cultures in the Yangtze River Delta region. The Grand Canal Cultural Belt should play its role in coordinated regional development by taking advantage of the historical traditions and geographical advantages in urban and rural development so as to take the lead in realizing the priority development strategy in the eastern region.
Liu Shilin, Chief of the Institute of Urban Science with Shanghai Jiaotong University, was quoted as saying that a collaborative mode of thinking or planning is important for the hierarchical configuration and coordinated development between cities, and the promotion of high quality development.
The canal culture belt in the Yangtze River Delta region should be built into the most romantic and beautiful life experience zone in the Jiangnan region, as well as the best sports and leisure venue and the most humanistic river of historical landscape, said Zhou Hongcheng, Assistant Professor, Department of History of Zhejiang Gongshang University.
Experts believe that the cultural industry should be deeply integrated with the digital economy and the digital creative industry. High-quality cultural supply should be prioritized in the process of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and cultural consumption should be stimulated.
At the same time, the three provinces and one city should give full play to their respective advantages and build a cultural highland with both existing brands and distinctive features by exerting their strength in platform construction, industrial collaboration and brand building so as to promote the high-quality development of the cultural industry in the Yangtze River Delta.
